Washington Black bear hunting  Hunters may now purchase and submit applications for a 2017 spring black bear hunting permit, applicable to specific areas of western and eastern Washington. To be eligible for a permit, hunters must purchase and submit an application to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) by midnight Feb. 28. The Missouri spring turkey managed hunt application opened Jan 06, 2017 and closes on February 28, 2017. Turkeys taken at a managed hunt count toward the season limit for spring turkey season. Youth must be at least 11 years old and hunter-education certified to hunt in a managed hunt. Missouri Angler Catches New State-Record Bigmouth Buffalo Fish  The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reports that John Paul Morris of Springfield became the most recent record-breaking fisherman in Missouri when he shot a bigmouth buffalo on a private pond in Henry County using a bow and arrow. Chronic wasting disease has been detected in a hunter harvested 1 1/2 –year-old white-tailed buck submitted for sampling within Surveillance Zone 3 in Medina County. This marks the first confirmed case of CWD in a free-ranging Texas whitetail.
