Utah 2017-18 Waterfowl Hunting Season Opens Oct 7 -- Outlook Promising  Utah will hold two opening days this year. In the Northern duck hunting zone, the season opens at 7:01 a.m. on Oct. 7, 2017. Kentucky Fuel Corporation Closed to Public Hunting

The Kentucky Fuel Corporation properties in eastern Kentucky are no longer open to public hunting. Kentucky Fuel’s hunting access agreement with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is no longer active, returning the property to private status. The change occurred after publication of the 2017-18 Kentucky Hunting and Trapping Guide. Kentucky Fish and Wildlife has updated its online version of the guide to reflect this change. Michigan Free-Ranging Deer Tests Positive for EHD in Genesee County

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Disease Laboratory and the Michigan State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory announced they have confirmed that a free-ranging white-tailed deer in Genesee County has died from epizootic hemorrhagic disease. EHD is a viral disease, sometimes fatal, found in wild ruminants such as white-tailed deer, mule deer and elk. Michigan Revised 2017-18 Fishing Regulations  The Michigan Natural Resources Commission approved several fishing regulation changes regarding the Big Island Lakes Complex in Schoolcraft County, reptile and amphibian possession and ice shanties. The regulations are part of multiple Fisheries Orders the Michigan DNR uses to protect the state’s aquatic resources. The Fisheries Orders include 201, 224 and 251. Fisheries Order 201 sets fishing regulations on waters within the Big Island Lake Complex in Schoolcraft County. The Montana 2017- general waterfowl season opens Sept 30. Waterfowl hunters intending to hunt on the Canyon Ferry WMA (CFWMA) near Townsend this fall are reminded that water levels in Pond 3 will be quite low due to a management-action water drawdown.
