Oklahoma Quail Season Opens Nov 11 - Numbers Back to 10-Year Average

Quail hunting season in Oklahoma will run from Nov. 11 to Feb. 15, 2018. This year’s Quail Roadside Surveys in Oklahoma show a decline from last year in the number of observed birds. We are sitting right at the 10-year average. That last two years was a boom, and now we are back down to average said Derek Wiley, upland game biologist with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. Oregon Coquille Valley WA Reopens to Public Use Nov 10

The Coquille Valley Wildlife Area (CVWA) reopens to public use on Friday, November 10. The area has been closed since May for tide gate construction and habitat restoration work. Both hunters and other recreationists must possess a free hunting/access permit available at a self-check station in the parking lot along North Bank Lane. CDFW Expanding Lands Pass Program to Dozens of Properties in 2017-18  The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is expanding its Lands Pass Program to 41 wildlife areas and ecological reserves this fall and winter and will soon require a CDFW lands pass of all visitors 16 or older. Those carrying a current hunting or fishing license are exempt from this new requirement. IDNR Now Accepting 2018 Fishing Tournament Applications

Fishing tournament organizers can begin applying for Illinois 2018 tournament permits on November 1, 2017.  Applications can be submitted to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources through IDNR fishing tournament online accounts on the I Fish Illinois website. Wyoming Hunter and Guide Injured by Grizzly South of Cody  Last week, a hunter and her guide were injured by a grizzly bear in the backcountry while elk hunting on public land south of Cody. Both individuals were injured in the attack, but the injuries were not life threatening.
