On Saturday, Nov. 4, Florida’s Zone C general gun deer season begins. Zone C is Florida’s largest hunting zone, encompassing the central and northern part of the state. The general gun deer season runs Nov. 4 – Jan. 21, giving private land hunters the chance to carve out time from their busy schedules to go afield. New York Remaining 2017 Deer Management Permits Available for Hunters
by TBC Press on 10/30/17The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced that remaining Deer Management Permits (DMPs) in several Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) will be available to hunters beginning Nov. 1. Deer Management Permits allow hunters to harvest antlerless deer and are issued for specific WMUs to control deer populations. In some WMUs, all applicants received permits during the initial application process and the DMP target has not been reached. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is offering waterfowl hunting opportunities at the Eden Landing Ecological Reserve (ELER) in Hayward during the 2017-18 season. The reserve includes former commercial salt ponds now managed by CDFW as low-salinity water bird habitat and areas restored to full tidal action. The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT) will conduct a public auction to sell surplus bison at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, beginning at 11 a.m. The auction is open to the public, and lunch and concessions will be available. Those interested in bidding are encouraged to arrive early to receive a bidder number. The Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 6 miles north of Canton in McPherson County, is managed to preserve the area’s prairie heritage and herds of bison and elk are maintained, both native to Kansas grasslands.
