Senate Approves Bill to Delist Wolves in 4 States

Last week the US Senate Environment and Public Works Committee approved an amendment on the Bipartisan Sportsmen’s Act of 2016 that would remove federal protections from gray wolves in Wyoming, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota. Wolves in these states were only recently returned to the Endangered Species List—and the protections afforded within—after a decision by a federal court in late 2014. Since then, the protected status of the species has been a controversial issue in the four states. READ MORE
Vermont Waterfowl Blinds Have To Be Removed on Lake Champlain By Feb 15
by TBC Press on 01/25/16Vermont waterfowl hunters who did not remove their hunting blinds from the waters of the state earlier must do so before February 15 on Lake Champlain or May 15 on inland waters according to a reminder from the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department. State law requires removal of the blinds before these deadlines in order to protect natural areas and to prevent boating accidents after the ice melts. READ MORE

Delaware Statewide Firearm Deer Season Reopens Jan 16
by TBC Press on 01/15/16Delaware’s 2015/16 firearm deer hunting season reopens Saturday, Jan. 16, with shotgun deer season running through Saturday, Jan. 23, followed by the resumption of muzzleloader season from Monday, Jan. 25 through Saturday, Jan. 30. The state’s continuing archery and crossbow seasons also conclude Saturday, Jan. 30. In order to hunt, Delaware residents age 16 through 64 are required to purchase a Delaware hunting license. Deer must be tagged immediately after harvest, and tags must remain attached until the deer is processed. Delaware hunting licenses come with four antlerless deer tags, but additional antlerless deer tags may be purchased online or from license agents for $10. READ MORE

Missouri Duck Hunters Workshops Seasons, Dates & Zones
by TBC Press on 01/15/16The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites Missouri waterfowl hunters to upcoming public workshops where Department staff will gather hunter input about duck season dates and zone boundary locations for the 2017-2020 hunting seasons. Participants will have the opportunity to review long-term data about weather, migration, habitat use, harvest, and hunter opinions, and to discuss season date and zone preferences with other hunters and MDC staff. MDC will use the hunter input gathered through the workshops, along with results of hunter-opinion surveys, to help establish Missouri's 2017-2020 duck season dates and zones. Read More
Register Now for North Dakota Hunter Education Classes

Maryland Winter Turkey Hunting Season Opens Jan 21 Statewide

Marylands winter turkey hunting season will be open Jan. 21-23 statewide. This season was established in 2015 to increase hunting opportunities. Hunters reported taking 108 turkeys in the first-ever winter season last year.
