Illinois Spring Wild Turkey Season Harvest Totals 15,484 Birds

Hunters in Illinois harvested a preliminary statewide total of 15,484 wild turkeys during the 2016 Spring Turkey Season, including the youth seasons.  The 2016 total compares with the statewide turkey harvest of 15,000 in 2015.  The statewide preliminary total includes Youth Turkey Season harvest of 1,045 birds, compared with youth season harvest of 896 turkeys in 2015... READ MORE

New Hampshire Lead Jig Law Takes Effect June 1

On June 1, 2016, a new law takes effect that redefines what a lead jig is for the purposes of taking fish in the freshwaters of New Hampshire. The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) Commission has proposed the 2016 West River deer hunting season. A total of 14,345 one-tag, 5,420 two-tag licenses would be available for residents and 1,151 one-tag, 434 two-tag licenses would be available for nonresidents. South Dakota Proposes East River, Muzzleloader & National Refuge Deer Seasons

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) Commission has proposed an increase in the number of East River deer hunting licenses for 2016. There would be 4,220 fewer one-tag licenses, 5,075 more two-tag licenses and 1,400 more three tag licenses compared to 2015.

South Dakota Proposes More Black Hills Deer Hunting Licenses

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) Commission has proposed 400 resident and 32 more nonresident antlerless whitetail deer hunting licenses for the 2016 Black Hills deer hunting season. There were no antlerless tags available in the Black Hills for 2015.

New Mexico Takes Action To Stop USFWS From Ignoring Federal & State Law

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish sought a temporary restraining order in the 7th Judicial District Court requiring the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to comply with state and federal laws, obligating them to obtain state authorization before releasing wildlife, including Mexican gray wolves, in New Mexico.

The USFWS decision to move forward with unpermitted and illegal releases of wildlife into New Mexico demonstrates a disregard for our state’s sovereignty, said Department Director Alexandra Sandoval.
