New York 2016 Early Deer & Bear Muzzleloader Season Opens Oct 15

The New York State (DEC) recently announced that the early muzzleloader season in the Northern Zone will begin for deer and bear Saturday, October 15, and continue through October 21. Washington Takes Steps to Protect Wild Redband Trout in Lake Roosevelt

redband rainbow trout  The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission recently took action to further protect redband rainbow trout at Lake Roosevelt, a Columbia River reservoir in northeast Washington. The commission voted to change the daily catch limit on trout at Lake Roosevelt and extend a closure in a section of the Sanpoil River during a trout spawning period. West Virginia 2016 Fall Trout Stockings Begin Oct 11

The WV 2016 fall trout stocking will take place the weeks of Oct. 11 and Oct. 17, according to Paul Johansen, chief of the DNR Wildlife Resources Section. More than 39,000 pounds of trout will be stocked during the two-week period in 25 streams and nine lakes, as indicated in the 2016 Fishing Regulations booklet. Wisconsin Baiting & Feeding Ban in Oconto & Menominee Counties Nov 1

As required by state law, a ban on baiting for hunting and feeding deer for recreational viewing or other purposes in Oconto and Menominee counties will take effect Nov. 1, 2016. Chronic wasting disease was detected in a captive white-tailed deer on a private hunting preserve in Oconto County and reported by the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection in late September. Kansas hunters should be aware that iSportsman Electronic Daily Hunt Permits are required on 24 wildlife areas. The electronic permit system has been in place for two years, and is normally fast and efficient. However, the software company that manages the host servers has experienced some technical difficulties this week that slowed the check-in procedure. Wyoming Finds CWD in New Deer Hunt Area Near Osage

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department confirmed chronic wasting disease (CWD) in a doe mule deer. The deer was harvested by a hunter in deer hunt area 7 about three miles west of Osage on October 1.
