Pennsylvania's New Mandatory Life Jacket Requirement Starts Nov 1

Pennsylvania adopted a slate of SPLIT FIREARMS DEER SEASONS  for 2016-17, retaining a split, five-day antlered deer season (Nov. 28-Dec. 2) and seven-day concurrent season (Dec. 3-10) in 18 Wildlife Management Units. The list includes WMUs 1A, 1B, 2A, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F, 2G, 2H, 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D and 4E. The Kansas pheasant and quail seasons open Nov. 12, 2016 and close Jan. 31, 2017. The daily bag limit for pheasants is four roosters with a possession limit of 16. The daily bag limit on quail is 8 per day and the possession limit is 32. Start planning now because opening day will be here before you know it. Pheasant and quail numbers were much better last year than in previous years, but overall harvest was still below average. Recreational salmon and steelhead fishing will close starting Saturday, Oct 23 on the Columbia River from Buoy 10 to the Hwy. 395 Bridge near Pasco, Wash., under rules adopted by fishery managers from Oregon and Washington. The closure is based on the latest fall Chinook run forecast, which indicates the Upriver Bright component, which includes ESA-listed Snake River wild Chinook, is tracking at 71 percent of the preseason forecast of 579,600 Chinook.
