North Carolina Deer Hunting in Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge

deer in NC River Wildlife Refuge  The Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge is a 152,000-acre National Wildlife Refuge located in eastern North Carolina along the Atlantic Coast, most of which are open to hunting. There are more than 150 miles of old logging roads that provide hunting access, some for vehicles and some on foot. White-tailed deer is the primary species hunted. South Carolina Issues Burning Ban in Jocassee Gorges

Virginia Big Woods WMA, New Parker’s Branch Tract Open

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) announced that it has purchased 1,965 acres in Sussex County, Virginia, adjoining the existing Big Woods Wildlife Management Area and Big Woods State Forest. The area is predominantly upland loblolly pine forests and mature forest swamps. West Virginia Concurrent Black Bear Hunting Opportunities During Deer Season

West Virginia deer hunters are reminded that a concurrent bear season without dogs will occur from Nov. 21 through Dec. 3, 2016, in 33 counties. Seventeen counties in the eastern mountains will be open to concurrent deer and bear hunting on private and public land. Hunters in those counties are required to have applied for and received a limited bear firearms season permit to participate, or be a resident landowner hunting on their own property. New Jersey Stocks Large Salmon in Three State Park Lakes

Approximately 1,200 salmon, reared to an average length of 13 inches, were recently stocked in three New Jersery state park lakes. The fish were held in two 2,000 gallon tanks at the Hackettstown State Fish Hatchery since their delivery in April. Upland game hunters statewide are gearing up for the opportunity to bag their Thanksgiving dinner, as California’s 2016 general fall wild turkey hunting season opens statewide on Saturday, Nov. 12.
