  Hunting game over bait is illegal in AlabamaWildlife food plots in Alabama have suffered because of the recent drought and some hunters are trying to increase their chances of harvesting a deer by disregarding a long-standing law. Hunting Tragedy - Three Texas Duck Hunters Found Dead

Three Texas duck hunters found dead  Three men who went missing during a hunting trip were found dead Saturday afternoon, according to the U.S. Coast Guard, CBS affiliate KHOU reports.  The three men went duck hunting near Carancahua Bay between Port Lavaca and Palacios Friday morning. Utah Approves Two Duck Hunting Zones for 2017–2018 Season

At their Jan. 3 meeting, members of the Utah Wildlife Board approved the creation of two duck hunting zones in Utah. They also approved a reduction in the number of pintail ducks hunters can take each day. And they approved the creation of a new rest area for waterfowl. Utah to Increase Number of Limited-Entry Bear Hunting Permits in 2017

Utah black bear hunting  At their Jan. 3 meeting, members of the Utah Wildlife Board — a panel of seven citizens appointed by the governor — approved a slight increase in the number of limited-entry bear hunting permits offered for Utah's 2017 hunts. Vermont Hunters Had Successful 2016 Deer Seasons

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department says preliminary numbers show 16,160 deer were taken during Vermont’s 2016 deer hunting seasons. Reports from big game check stations indicate hunters had successful deer seasons in 2016, taking 3,447 deer in archery season, 1,438 in youth season, 7,725 in rifle season, and 3,550 in muzzleloader season. Vermont F&W Using Helicopters to Collar Moose

Northeast Kingdom residents may soon see a helicopter flying low overhead as the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department begins collaring up to 60 moose for a three-year study. The radio-collaring will be carried out primarily within Essex County by a professional contractor, Native Range, Inc. Capture could begin as early as January 11, depending on weather conditions. Rabies Alert Issued After Multiple Bobcat Attacks in Florida

Florida rabid bobcat attacks  Bobcats are normally non-aggressive and want nothing to do with humans, but this one was quite different. A rabies alert has been issued for Venice and North Port by the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County after discovering a rabid bobcat in the area.
