Tennessee Approves 2016-17 Waterfowl, Migratory Bird Hunting Seasons

All duck, goose, dove, and other migratory game bird seasons will be similar to last year after calendar date changes, with the following changes approved by the TFWC. The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Marine Resources Division (MRD) announced Wednesday that Alabama’s waters will open for the recreational harvest of red snapper from Friday, May 27 – Sunday, July 31, 2016. For 2016, the state waters were extended in federal legislation that was passed in December 2015. This extension allows the State of Alabama to manage reef fish out to 9 miles from shore. The Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, on April 20, approved the final rule changes for the 2016 alligator hunting season on public waters and private lands in Mississippi. The statewide public waters season will include opportunities in specific public waterways. A total of 920 permits will be available within seven hunting zones across the state for the ten-day season, August 26 - September 5, 2016. All public water permits will be available for purchase on a first-come-first-serve basis. After four years of waiting, hunters in Oklahoma can finally celebrate another victory for suppressor use. Last week Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin signed into law House Bill 2637, which legalized suppressors for hunting on public land. Hunting with suppressors on private land is already legal in the state, and has been since 2012.
