With this years turkey season just about in the books, the 2016 Nebraska spring turkey hunting permits for Merriam’s & Rios will be available beginning Jan 11 - May 31. A spring turkey permit, as well as a spring youth turkey permit, allows a hunter to take turkeys with bow and arrow in the archery season and a shotgun in the shotgun season. New Jersey Waives Fee for Venison Donation Program

The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife has been informed that in January and February, 2016, the Hunters Helping the Hungry (HHH) program will be waiving the fee hunters are asked to pay when donating deer. Normally hunters contribute $10 to $25 per deer to defray the costs of the program. More than 1,500,000 meals have been distributed by the program since its beginning in 1997. READ MORE
New York Proposes Change to Allow Big Bore Air Rifles for Big Game Hunting

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is now accepting public comment on proposed regulation changes that would allow the use of big bore air rifles as a legal implement for taking big game at certain times and places in New York, beginning in the fall 2016 hunting seasons, Acting Commissioner Basil Seggos announced today. In response to the dramatic decline of lion populations in the wild, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) today announced it will list two lion subspecies under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Wolves are back in California, and as ranchers feared, they appear to have begun taking a toll on livestock. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife recently released its first-ever report on a possible wolf depredation incident, something the state has not seen for over 100 years. Georgia’s Approves Minimum-Size Regulation Increase for Spotted Seatrout

Georgia Department of Natural Resources Commissioner, Mark Williams has announced that during the October 2015 meeting, the Board of Natural Resources approved an increase in the minimum-size limit for spotted seatrout from 13 inches to 14 inches, total length with an effective date of January 1, 2016.
