Tennessee 2016 Spring Turkey Quota Hunts Application Now Open

  The application period for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency 2016 Spring Turkey Quota Hunts runs from Dec. 16 through Feb. 3, 2016.

Applications are available and will be accepted at any TWRA license agent, TWRA regional office, or online at the TWRA website at www.tnwildlife.org. Applications can be accepted until 11:59 p.m. (CST) on Feb. 3. Mailed applications will not be accepted. The areas available for the hunts are listed on the instruction sheets.

Montana FWP & Walleyes Unlimited Collecting Used Christmas Trees For Fish Habitat

   The Miles City chapter of Walleyes Unlimited and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks have teamed up to continue improving a popular local fishery. Used Christmas trees will be accepted again this year to later sink into Spotted Eagle Recreation Area to provide habitat for fish.

A drop off location has been set up at Spotted Eagle. The trees will be placed in the pond in the coming spring. Submerged and anchored trees increase habitat complexity, provide hiding cover for juvenile fish and nesting cover for some species of adult fish.  READ MORE

California Apprentice Waterfowl Hunting Opportunities in Butte County

   The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is offering apprentice waterfowl hunting opportunities at the Howard Slough Unit in the Upper Butte Basin Wildlife Area.

Beginning on Saturday, Dec.19, 2015, the rice blinds will be open to hunters who possess a junior hunting license. These blinds will only available on Wednesday and Saturday from legal shoot time until noon. Permits must be obtained from the check station and returned by 1 p.m.  READ MORE
