Minnesota Spring Turkey Hunting Season Opens April 13

With the benefit of expanded spring turkey hunting opportunities in their favor, an estimated 42,000 hunters will take to Minnesota’s fields and forests between Wednesday, April 13, and the end of May, aiming to bag a wild turkey. Deadline for Minnesota Bear Hunt Applications May 6

Black Bear   Applications for Minnesota bear hunting licenses are being accepted now through Friday, May 6.  A total of 3,850 licenses are available in 13 permit areas. Bear licenses cost $44 for residents and $230 for nonresidents, and there is a $5 application fee. The season is open from Thursday, Sept. 1, through Sunday, Oct. 16. Expect Roadblocks Statewide During New Mexico Fishing & Hunting Seasons

The Department of Game and Fish will conduct roadblocks throughout the state during the hunting and fishing seasons to collect harvest data and to detect wildlife law violations. Oregon Wallowa County Steelhead Season Extended Until April 30 on Several Rivers

Spring steelhead anglers can fish the Grande Ronde, Wallowa, and Imnaha Rivers including Big Sheep Creek through April 30 due to 2016 regulation changes that went into effect Jan. 1. The old closure date was April 15. The extension was a result of ODFW’s regulation simplification process last year. Through public input, ODFW learned that local anglers thought steelhead fishing was cut short in some years despite great catch rates in mid-April. The suggestions from anglers led to changes in the regulations, resulting in increased fishing opportunities, said Jeff Yanke, district fish biologist in Enterprise. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will host the 2016 Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) workshop June 3-5 in Crossville at the Clyde M. York 4-H Center. Washington Approves 2016-17 Hunting Seasons - Restricts Baiting Game

The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission adopted restrictions on the use of bait to hunt deer and elk, but made few significant changes in state hunting seasons at a public meeting April 8-9 in Olympia. Florida Hunters Bag Massive Alligator in Okeechobee

Massive Florida Gator   A group of hunters in Florida may have harvested one of the largest alligators in state history. According to CNN, the massive reptile was taken in Okeechobee by a group of hunters consisting of Lee Lightsey, his son, a professional guide, and two visitors. Paddlefish snagging   A paddlefish tag is required to participate in North Dakota’s paddlefish snagging season, which opens May 1 and is scheduled to continue through the end of May. However, depending on the overall harvest, an early in-season closure may occur with a 24-hour notice issued by the state Game and Fish Department.
