No Additional Deer Test Positive for CWD in Southeastern Minnesota

whitetail deer laying down  No additional deer have tested positive for chronic wasting disease from samples collected this fall in southeastern Minnesota, according to the Department of Natural Resources. Nearly one-third of all deer harvested during southeastern Minnesota’s first firearms deer season and the first three days of the second season were tested for CWD. Oklahoma Higher Pheasant Numbers Good News for Hunters as Season Opens

Survey results from spring and summer indicate a higher numbers of birds in the 13-county survey area in northern Oklahoma compared to the 2015 results.  Pheasant hunting season opened Dec. 1 and will run through Jan. 31, 2017. Licensed hunters may harvest only two cock pheasants daily. Wearing of hunter orange is required of pheasant hunters when any big-game hunting season is also open in the area where they are hunting. Summit Treestand Recalled Due to Fall Hazard

Summit treestand recall  A climbing treestand was recalled due to a falling hazard, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced November 30, 2016. The recall is on the 2016 Summit Explorer SD Closed Front Climbing Treestand shown here. The treestand has a metal frame, a suspended foam-padded seat in a camouflage pattern material, and weighs about 20 pounds. The harvest represents a 24 percent increase over last year’s estimate of 10,859 for the same period. Ohio Deer Hunters Harvest Over 18,000 During Opening of Gun Season

Hunters checked 18,776 white-tailed deer on Monday, Nov. 28, the opening day of Ohio deer-gun hunting season, according to the Ohio DNR. Changes to Permanent Vermont Licenses Coming in 2017

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department is reminding hunters and anglers of changes to permanent license laws that go into effect starting on January 1, 2017.
