Tennessee Sets 2017-18 Hunting Seasons

The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission established the state’s 2017-18 hunting and trapping seasons at its May meeting. The TFWC voted to increase the total number of elk hunt permits from 11 to 15 and increase the three hunt segments to seven days each. This will include seven archery permits, seven for gun (which includes the auctioned permit), and one youth permit. The archery only elk hunt was increased from five to seven days and will be held beginning the last Saturday of September. The dates are Sept. 30 through Oct. 6. Apply for Georgia 2017 Alligator Hunting by July 31  Applications are now being accepted for the Georgia 2017 alligator hunting permits. The deadline to apply is July 31. Bag Limit: One (1) alligator. Legal alligators must be greater than or equal to 48 inches in length as measured from end of the snout to tip of the tail for Zones 1-9. In Zone 1A (Lake Walter F. Almost 350 New Mexico deer hunting licenses and over 100 javelina licenses that were not allocated during the annual 2017-18 big-game drawing will go on sale at 10 a.m. MDT June 21, only on the Department of Game and Fish website. Any leftover Wyoming licenses from the initial draw will be distributed through a leftover draw. The list of leftover licenses will be available below, on June 22. The application period will be five days, June 26-30, 2017. The majority of remaining Elk, Antelope and Deer licenses are for hunt areas in which it may be difficult to obtain access. Missouri Angler Catches New State Record Redear Sunfish  The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reports Dominik Penner of Merriam Woods Village became the most recent record-breaking angler in Missouri when he caught a redear sunfish on Table Rock Lake.
