California 2017 Spiny Lobster Season Opens Sept 30 - Know Regulations  California lobster season has a new start time and opens at 6 a.m. Sept. 30. The big question is: If the hoop wet time is a maximum two hours, can I drop my hoops at 4:15 a.m. Sept. 30, and pull them after the start time of 6 a.m.?  The answer is NO and here is why.
