Alaska 2020-21 Waterfowl & Migratory Bird Regulation Changes

3) Unit 20B, Fairbanks Management Area, Badger Slough: waterfowl can only be taken by falconry or archery with flu-flu arrows.

4) Emperor goose
Allowable take has been reduced from 1,000 to 500 birds. Hunt area quotas have changed accordingly. Be aware that hunting in specific hunt areas may be closed by emergency order if the respective quota is met prior to the end of the hunting season.

LICENSE AND STAMP REQUIREMENTS
If purchased online, the state duck stamp will be numerically printed on your license. You can purchase licenses and state duck stamps online at: http://adfg.alaska.gov/. You can purchase Federal duck stamps at https://www.fws.gov/birds/get-involved/duck-stamp/buy-duck-stamp.php

HIP ENROLLMENT
Most migratory bird hunters are required to enroll in the nationwide Harvest - Information Program (HIP). HIP enrollment can be accomplished by:
  • 1. Completing a HIP form at a license vendor when purchasing a state duck stamp.

Tagging (Labeling of Game)
You must label migratory birds before leaving them at any place other than the hunter’s residence or before placing them in the custody of another person for any purpose. A tag must include the number and species of birds, date killed, and address and signature of the hunter. You can get TAGS at;  Toe Tags, LLC

Alaska Department of Fish & Game (DF&G) has set the 2020-21 waterfowl & migratory bird regulations. Some changes were approved that include waterfow seasons and more.

Alaska 2020-21 Waterfowl Changes:

1) Brant
Statewide: daily bag and possession limits have been reduced to 2 daily, 6 in possession.

2) Units 1-4 (Southeast Region): the waterfowl hunting season has been shifted to occur from September 16 – December 31 in accordance with 2019 Board of Game action.
