Nonresident over-the-counter general hunt tags are limited to:
- 14,000 regular and white-tailed deer tags
- 1,500 nonresident white-tailed deer tags, which are available when the regular/white-tailed tags sell out.
Fish and Game has sold out nonresident tags for years, and sell out dates have been getting earlier for several years. Idaho resident deer and elk tags are not limited by a quota.
Residents are not limited by an overall tag quota for deer and elk tags, but are allowed to buy nonresident tags as second tags after Aug. 1 if nonresident tags have not sold out.

Publishers Note:
As OUR COUNTRY REOPENS AGAIN (from the COVID-19 pandemic) and continue to enjoy outdoor activities, ALL outdoorsmen (man, woman, child) should follow the guidelines set by nps.gov. These guidelines include; social distancing, the Leave No Trace principles, including pack-in and pack-out, to keep outdoor spaces safe and healthy.
Nonresident hunters planning to hunt elk or deer in Idaho in 2020 may want to buy a tag soon because nonresident tags are likely to sell out earlier than last year.
Fish and Game projections based on current sales rates show nonresident 2020 elk tags could sell out by July 1 and deer tags (including white-tailed deer tags) by August 1. Those dates are based on current sales, and actual sell-out dates could be sooner if sales increase.
