Grassy Lake WMA is located in northeastern Avoyelles Parish, approximately 12 miles from Bordelonville.

The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) adopted a declaration of emergency closing turkey season on Grassy Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA) during its March meeting Thursday (March 5) in Baton Rouge. The action was taken due to extensive spring flooding that has been and is currently occurring on the WMA.
The declaration of emergency states in part: “Turkeys on the (WMA) are confined to a small percentage of high ground that is not inundated, creating conditions for excessive harvest levels beyond what may occur under normal conditions.
