Oregon Hunters Reminded To Report Hunt Results By Jan 31 to Avoid Penalties

by TBC Press on 01/08/16

Hunters are required to report on each deer, elk, cougar, bear, pronghorn and turkey tag purchased—even if they were not successful or did not hunt. Sports Pac license holders need to report on each big game or turkey tag issued.

Portions of Northwest Tennessee to Close Due to Mississippi River Flooding

by TBC Press on 01/08/16

The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission has voted to close portions of northwest Tennessee for this weekend’s Young Sportsman Deer Hunt due to severe flooding along the Mississippi River.

The commission met via conference call on Thursday morning to discuss the flooding in areas in the West Tennessee area and how it would impact this weekend’s scheduled two-day Young Sportsman Deer Hunt. The flood waters in West Tennessee, occurring uncharacteristically during deer hunting season, offered a unique challenge as the commissioners and agency strive to protect wildlife but still offer as much opportunity as possible,” said TWRA Executive Director Ed Carter. by TBC Press on 01/08/16

A ban on baiting for hunting and feeding deer for recreational viewing or other purposes in Oneida, Forest and Vilas counties will take effect Jan. 11, 2016 due to the detection of chronic wasting disease in captive white-tailed deer on private land in Oneida County reported in December.

Forest and Vilas counties are within a 10-mile radius of the Oneida County property on which a CWD-positive deer was found. State law requires that the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources enact a ban on feeding and baiting of deer in counties or portions of counties within a 10-mile radius of a captive or free-roaming domestic or wild animal that tests positive for CWD or tuberculosis. As of Jan. 11, baiting and feeding of deer will be prohibited in 41 Wisconsin counties. READ MORE
