Hawaii 10-Year Fishing Rest Period for Kaupulehu in Effect

Hawaii governor David Ige signed a new rule last week to create a new marine reserve at Kaupulehu, on the west coast of Hawaii island. The rule will take effect on Friday, July 29. The new reserve boundaries will encompass the existing Kaupulehu Fish Replenishment Area.  The rule establishes a 10-year near shore no take “rest period” —with limited exceptions—to allow for the recovery of reef fish stocks prior to the implementation of a fishery management plan for Ka‘?p?lehu. Maryland Black Bear Lottery Open Through Aug 31

The Maryland DNR is now accepting applications for this year’s black bear hunting lottery through Aug 31st. Successful applicants will receive a permit valid for the four-day hunting season, taking place Oct. 24-27 in Allegany, Frederick, Garrett and Washington counties. Washington Closing Portions of the Columbia Basin Wildlife Area for Feral Pig Removal

Effective July 29th, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) will close public access to a portion of the Columbia Basin Wildlife Area in Grant County as part of a month-long effort to remove feral pigs from the area. With dove hunting season in Missouri opening Sept. 1, the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reminds dove hunters of its more than 180 conservation areas around the state that allow dove hunting, including nearly 100 planted in crop fields that attract the popular game birds. Illinois Proposed 2016-2017 Waterfowl Season Dates Set
