The 2016 pheasant hunting season opened on October 1 and the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department reminds pheasant hunters that due to safety concerns, all pheasant stocking sites will be closed to pheasant hunting until noon statewide on both Thursday and Friday of the first three weeks of the season. Washington's most popular hunting seasons will get underway Oct. 15, when hunters with modern firearms will take to the field for deer.   For centuries, traditional Hawaiian chants have warned about an increased risk of shark bites in the fall.  According to the DLNR Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR), that warning is still appropriate.
