CDFW Implements Wildlife Area & Refuge Check Station Safety Precautions for 2020-2021 Hunting Seasons

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is planning ahead to provide ample recreational hunting opportunities on wildlife areas and refuges this fall and winter, while also keeping hunters and CDFW staff safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. CDFW has established a page on its website to describe specific procedures to be implemented this year for public and staff health and safety. Oregon anglers will be able to harvest coho salmon in the Grande Ronde River for the first time in 40 years starting Oct. 1. Coho salmon are making a strong appearance in the Columbia River system this year and counts at Bonneville Dam are well above the ten-year average. Included in that group are the Lostine River Coho, reintroduced by the Nez Perce Tribe (NPT) and ODFW in 2017.
