Two Colorado Wildlife Areas Near Montrose close for the Winter Jan 1st

To protect big game animals, two Colorado State Wildlife Areas in the Montrose region will be closed for the winter starting Jan 1st. South of Montrose, all seven tracts of the Billy Creek State Wildlife Area will be closed from Jan. 1 through April 30. East of Montrose, the Cimarron State Wildlife Area is closed from Jan 1 through June 30. The annual winter closures have been in effect for more than 20 years.
