Colorado Issues Emergency Closure for Part of Cherokee State WMA Due to Fire

The McNay Fire that started around noon Sunday has forced the emergency closure of the Lone Pine section on the Cherokee State Wildlife Area (SWA), Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced Monday. The closure will have an affect on archery and muzzleloader deer hunters. The only access to the remaining open parcels, including the Roy Brown, on the lower unit is from County Road 80C.
