Ohio to Release 14,000 Pheasants Statewide for Additional Hunting Opportunities  A total of more than 14,000 ring-necked pheasants will be released at 24 Ohio public hunting areas this fall to provide additional hunting opportunities across the state, according to the ODNR. Ohio hunters and anglers can now buy multiyear licenses, according to the ODNR. Ohio resident license buyers can choose from 3-year, 5-year, 10-year and lifetime hunting or fishing licenses. Oregon Approves Roadkill Salvage Rules to Take Effect Jan 1, 2019  The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission adopted administrative rules for the salvage of roadkilled deer and elk during its meeting in Klamath Falls today. The new rules are due to the passage of SB 372 by the 2017 Oregon State Legislature and take effect on Jan. 1, 2019. CWD Found in Quebec Closes Sections to Hunting

The first case of chronic wasting disease (CWD) in Quebec was discovered on Sept. 10. Quebec’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food found the disease in a deer that came from a cervid farm in the Laurentians region. That farm has been quarantined and Quebec’s Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks (MFFP) and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency are collaborating to contain the disease. Outbreaks of Avian Paramyxovirus in Texas  Recently, a number of Eurasian collared doves near El Paso, Texas have tested positive for avian paramyxovirus, specifically Pigeon Paramyxovirus-1, or PPMV-1.
