The beginning of Florida muzzleloading gun season immediately follows the close of crossbow season in each zone annually. Season dates run Nov. 17-30 in Zone B, Oct. 20 – Nov. 2 in Zone C and Dec. 1-7 in Zone D. During muzzleloader season, bows and crossbows also are legal methods of taking game on private lands. After a 15-year hiatus, largemouth bass virus has re-emerged in a new northern Lower Peninsula water. This virus has been confirmed as a factor in a fish kill in Cedar Lake in Alcona and Iosco counties, Michigan, with additional lakes in the area being examined. Montana Hunters Reminded of New Mule-Deer Permit Area Near Libby  As general hunting season arrives in Montana, hunters are reminded of a new permit area for mule deer near Libby. The North Fisher portion of Hunting District 103, designated as HD 103-50, is now a limited draw permit area for mule deer bucks. Wisconsin 2018 Ring-Necked Pheasant Season Opens Oct 20  The Wisconsin fall 2018 pheasant hunting season opens statewide at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20. The season will run through Jan. 6, 2019. The 2018 spring pheasant surveys in Wisconsin show that pheasant abundance is above the 5-year average with the highest pheasant detection rate in the west-central part of the state. Several other seasons also open that day including bobwhite quail, Hungarian partridge and ruffed grouse in Zone B.
