New York to Consider Lowering Hunting Age

Back in 1991 New York was dragged, kicking and screaming, into the 20th Century when the legislature approved lowering the minimum small game hunting age from 14 to 12. We were the last of the 50 states to do so. Today 12 is the highest minimum hunting age in the country — again. The Empire State has new legislation that proposes lowering the big game hunting age to 12. Senate Bill 3156, sponsored by Sen. Joseph A. Griffo (R-Rome), would do that.
