  The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) recently approved regionally-specific bay scallop open season dates for 2018, including a change to the season for Levy, Citrus and Hernando counties that was proposed in December. An Iowa hunter-harvested adult doe taken in southeast Wayne County during the first shotgun deer season has tested positive for the presence of chronic wasting disease (CWD). This is the first hunter-harvested wild deer outside of northeast Iowa to test positive for the always fatal disease. The deer was shot on Dec. 5. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is proposing not to hunt grizzly bears in southwest Montana this year, but still retain its share of the discretionary mortality, per the agreement with the states of Wyoming and Idaho. This proposal will be before the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission at their regular meeting Feb. 15.   Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) inland fisheries staff found a total of 30 acres of invasive giant salvinia in multiple locations at Lake Nacogdoches Feb. 5. Last spring, 84 Special Hunts for Kansas spring turkeys were available to 165 hunters. Of those hunts, 25 were Mentor Hunts, 29 were Open Hunts and 30 were Youth Hunts.
