Initial sampling efforts by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) for chronic wasting disease (CWD) in East Carroll, Madison and Tensas parishes have not turned up any positive results of the disease.   In a recent fishing exercise at Creve Coeur Lake in Maryland Heights, Missouri, our biologists worked with the Missouri Department of Conservation, U.S. Geological Survey, and the St. Louis County Parks Department to remove 47,000 Asian carp from the lake. The North Dakota Game and Fish Department’s 2017 bighorn sheep survey revealed a minimum of 265 bighorn sheep in western North Dakota, down 11 percent from 2016 and 9 percent below the five-year average.   The Michigan DNR made an announcement last week that 3,000 walleyes have been tagged, and released in a number of Saginaw Bay tributary rivers. They are now asking anglers who catch the tagged fish to collect and report information back to the state. It’s worth noting there are two different styles of tags for anglers to watch out for. The Missouri Conservation Commission approved recommendations from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) for the upcoming 2018 migratory-game-bird-hunting seasons and 2018-2019 waterfowl-hunting seasons.
