The first 20 randomly selected applicants will be notified in early March by mail. The lottery winners will be required to contact the academy to receive mandatory hunting procedures and to schedule their hunts.
The USAFA spring season will be split into two periods: April 13 to May 3 and May 4-26. Only 10 hunters will be scheduled in each of the periods and on a first-come basis.
A separate application and drawing process will be held for the fall turkey season.

The public is invited to enter a lottery for a license to hunt turkey in Colorado, using archery equipment only, in the spring season at the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA). The hunt is offered in cooperation with Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW).
Anyone interested must sign up before Feb. 28 through the USAFA iSportsman site and pay a $6 non-refundable application fee. USAFA is identified in the CPW system as Game Management Unit (GMU) 512.
Besides the application fee, lottery winners will need to purchase an over-the-counter spring turkey license from CPW for $29.75, plus a $10 habitat stamp.
